Incidental Landscapes: Part 5 of 6

Using a tripod helps me to take the time and focus on my scene in a more considered manner.  The tripod also allows me the flexibility to adapt and harmonise with any environmental factors that I might either want to use to my advantage or need to overcome.  For example, if the lighting is low or poor, I can use a slow shutter speed without the worry of unwanted camera movement. This also means that I would not have to use a wide aperture to facilitate handheld settings if I did not want to either.  Further to my tripod, I also have a Tiffen variable density filter which is always to hand if I need to reduce my light intake and slow my shutter speed down some more to create extra movement or softness within a scene.
