My journey to The Lizard to check out the Starling murmurations was a success and also a work in progress. I say work in progress, because I didn’t really manage to get any decent images of the starling murmurations during that particular visit. What I did establish was that this was indeed a wonderful location from which to observe the incredible spectacle that murmurations are. The position in which I chose to stand, not quite knowing the direction from which to expect our feathered friends to turn up from was just not the best one to achieve any noteble photographic results from. It was, however, perfect for capturing the magnificent sunset that unfurled across the sky over Poldhu Cove itself, looking out to the Atlantic Ocean, with my back to the descending starlings! Next time I will go a bit deeper in land, away from the ocean so that I can get a stronger position under the murmurating birds!
